Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc :: Rayman |
![]() |
Rayman, our hero will run, jump, and climb through several levels, killing enemies, using Superpowers, and doing whatever else he needs to in order to reach the end. There is less emphasis on exploration and more emphasis on fighting and gaining points. For getting those big scores, Rayman needs to rack up his combos b y killing enemies and/or by collecting Jewels in rapid succession. If too many seconds pass after Rayman wastes a bad guy or grabs a Jewel, the combo ends and adds whatever bonus points it has carried to Rayman's Score. |

Motion Stick - Move
(relative to the screen). |
![]() |
Camera Stick - Move the camera.
Push this Stick to revolve the camera around Rayman. During Freeze Mode, press this Stick to revolve the camera. |
Jump Button - Jump. Press this Button again in midair to make Rayman perform his helicopter maneuver, which lets him descend more slowly. Helicoptering can help him cross large chasms. Rayman can also perform cling-jumps inside clefts. After he jumps up inside of one, press this Button to make him cling onto the sides. From here, he can jump up again and repeat this move to scale the cleft. |
![]() |
Attack Button - Attack. Rayman's primary means of defense are his disjointed fists, and he "loads" up his punches if you hold this Button. Rayman can also perform hooks if you press this Button along with Left or Right (on the Motion Stick) while holding the Strafe Button. |
![]() |
These curved punches are perfect for bypassing certain barriers or enemy defenses. When Rayman is standing next to a bad guy or when he's missing his hands, pressing this Button will make him kick instead. Rayman is an extremely versatile fighter, being able to punch or load up while running, strafing, jumping, and even rolling. Rayman can also throw a maximum of two punches at a time. |
Status Button - Display Rayman's life and Superpower energy meters. The life meter normally appears only when Rayman sucks up something painful, but by pressing this Button you can quickly check his health. Also press this Button to perform a Grimace (when Rayman earns the ability to do so). Performing a Grimace near a Dark Lum will restore it into a Red Lum and give Rayman 10 points. During Freeze Mode, press this Button to display data about any enemy Rayman is targeting. |
![]() |
Look Button - Look Mode. Rayman will view his surroundings from a first person perspective as long as this Button is held. Rayman has very good eyesight and can focus on distant objects with ease. During Look Mode, press the Roll Button to zoom out and press the Strafe Button to zoom in, up to a maximum magnification factor of ten. |
Roll Button - Roll. This maneuver supposedly helps him avoid enemy attacks, although jumping or running away is usually a better tactic. Rayman can roll to the sides or backwards if you press this Button along with Left, Right, or Down (on the Motion Stick) while holding the Strafe Button. |
Strafe
Button - Strafe, or when there is an enemy nearby, lock on to it. When
there is no enemy nearby, pressing this Button will also center the camera behind Rayman. | Help Button
- Display Help Menu. Press this Button on the Subscreen to view additional instructions on navigating the menus. |
Freeze Button - Freeze Mode. The action
will be paused, and you can view Rayman's surroundings. If he is targeting an enemy, you can press the Status Button to display that enemy's personal data on the screen. You can also take a snapshot here and save it - just follow the instructions on the screen if you wish to do so. |
Pause
Button - Pause. While the game is paused, you can select from a list of
options. Other data, such as the number of Cages destroyed and Rayman's current score, are also displayed. |
